Why the Spine specifically

The Fronds on Palm Jebel Ali are villa land — large private plots, not apartment buildings. The Spine is the through-road connecting the whole island back to the mainland, and it's where Nakheel has put the community-scale buildings: retail, schools, and — with Palm Central — the island's first apartment product. That's a structural fact about the master plan, not a marketing choice: if you want an apartment on Palm Jebel Ali rather than a villa, the Spine is currently the only place that exists.

At full build-out, Palm Jebel Ali will be roughly twice the size of Palm Jumeirah, with seven islands, sixteen fronds, and over 90km of beachfront — a scale that puts Palm Central's current three buildings as an early, relatively small piece of a much larger island. Worth knowing before assuming the neighbourhood you see today is close to finished.

What that actually means day to day

Palm Jebel Ali is closer to Jebel Ali Port, Al Maktoum International Airport, and the Expo City side of Dubai than it is to Downtown or DIFC. If your work or school routine runs through the older, more central part of the city, the 20–25 minute drive to Downtown is the number that matters more than the shorter trip to the airport. If your life already leans toward the Marina, JBR, or the newer Jebel Ali / Expo corridor, the location reads differently — closer to the centre of gravity than the "new island, far from everything" framing some listings default to.

There's no confirmed public transit link to the island yet; a car (yours or a taxi) is the realistic way in and out for the foreseeable future, same as most new Dubai coastal developments at this stage of build-out.
